With the league year underway Johnny Manziel Jersey 2019 , the Giants have now officially traded wide receiver Odell Beckham and defensive end Olivier Vernon to the Browns in a move that some have called a sign that the team is prioritizing success in the future over success in 2019.Given that they also let safety Landon Collins walk away, it’s not hard to understand why that belief has taken hold. Even if that was the team’s plan, you wouldn’t expect to hear anyone from the Giants admit that they were writing off this year and General Manager Dave Gettleman did the expected in a statement announcing the trade.“You can win while you build a roster Orange Terrance West Jersey ,” Gettleman said. “We do have a plan, and this is a part of it.”With eight wins in the last two seasons, there’s ample reason for the Giants to blow things up and try to build winning team from the ground up. Gettleman suggests they don’t see things that way Terrance West Jersey 2019 , although that may wind up ringing as true as his suggestions that the team wouldn’t trade Beckham. The Browns reportedly are considering Freddie Kitchens and Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski are the two finalists for the head-coaching job. How that question gets resolved may come down to the manner in which an internal struggle is resolved.Per a league source, the choice may come down to an internal battle of wills, with the football guys (led by John Dorsey) pulling one way and the analytics guys (led by Paul DePodesta) pulling the other. The problem is that both Dorsey and DePodesta report independently to owner Jimmy Haslam. The reality is that quarterback Baker Mayfield could break the tie Orange Bernie Kosar Jersey , and his input definitely matters. For now, the thinking is that Dorsey (and Mayfield) prefer Kitchens, and that DePodesta prefers Stefanski to Kitchens. However it plays out Bernie Kosar Jersey 2019 , this may not end up being the kind of inspired hire that Mayfield’s presence could have sparked. That inspired hire may have to wait until the next time the Browns are looking, which as history tells us could come sooner than later.

Cornerback Marcus Peters criticized himself for playing poorly when his Los Angeles Rams lost at New Orleans last weekend. That doesn't mean Saints coach Sean Payton can say anything about it Andrus Peat Jersey 2019 , however.Peters reacted sharply in the Rams' locker room Thursday when asked about postgame comments by Payton in which the veteran coach said the Saints liked the matchup of receiver Michael Thomas going against Peters, a former Pro Bowl selection. Peters also claimed Payton said something to him or his teammates during New Orleans' 45-35 victory."Tell Sean Payton to keep talking that (expletive)," Peters said. "We're going to see him soon. You feel me?"New Orleans sent the Rams (8-1) to their first defeat of the season with a 487-yard offensive game last Sunday.Thomas caught 12 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown, none bigger than the 72-yard touchdown catch on which he burned past Peters to seal the win. All told, Thomas made six catches when Peters was in coverage on him."They were going to travel Marcus to him, and that was fine by us," Payton said afterward. "We thought we really liked that matchup, a lot."Peters repeatedly blamed himself for having a bad game, and he refused to echo defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' claim that he had put together a poor scheme that didn't help Peters. After a few seconds to think about it Thursday, Peters had more to say about Payton."Yeah, because I liked what he was saying on the sidelines, too," Peters said. "So tell him, keep talking that (expletive), and I hope he sees me soon. And then we're going to have a nice little bowl of gumbo together."Peters didn't elaborate on what Payton said on the sideline, but that delicious dinner date is a distinct possibility for January. The Saints (7-1) and the Rams are the only one-loss teams in the NFC, putting both on track for first-round postseason byes if they can maintain their outstanding starts.Los Angeles hosts the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The New Orleans Saints opened the 2018 season with great expectations on the defensive side of the ball after a 2017 campaign where a disruptive young defense helped propel them to a division championship. An opening day 48-40 home loss to division rival Tampa Bay brought their defensive confidence down to earth a bit, and they would struggle on that side of the ball for the first month of the season, particularly against the pass. The Saints defense would rebound however, and in recent weeks have again been one of the more disruptive squads in the NFL. They have held their last four opponents to under 20 points, eight of twelve opponents to 20 points or less for the year White P.J. Williams Jersey , and have forced 14 turnovers in the last six games. The Saints, fresh off of their first loss in ten games to the Dallas Cowboys, now face the Buccaneers in a rematch from opening weekend. Tampa Bay is first in the NFL in total yardage, and tenth in scoring with nearly 27 points per game. The explosive Bucs offense scorched the New Orleans defense in week one, let's have a look at how the sequel might play out. SAINTS PASS DEFENSE VS. BUCCANEERS PASS OFFENSE Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty ImagesNew Orleans ranks 30th against the pass, surrendering 279 yards per game. The secondary continues inconsistent performances against opposing wideouts, allowing 8 receivers to gain over 100 yards so far this season. Cornerback Eli Apple had an extremely rough start in the team's 13-10 loss to the Cowboys last week, allowing 4 key completions and getting flagged for 3 penalties within the first three Dallas drives. Apple has been a major upgrade over the team's cornerback play from Ken Crawley and P.J. Williams earlier this season since his acquisition from the Giants though. He has teamed with Marshon Lattimore to give the Saints a physical and athletic tandem, with Williams moving primarily into slot coverage. Safeties Marcus Williams and Vonn Bell are active on the back end, and both are capable of taking on man coverage responsibilities. When the New Orleans pass defense has had success, it has been due to producing heavy pressure on the quarterback. The Saints have 37 sacks on the year, led by 10 from Cameron Jordan, the fourth double-digit sack output of his career. Defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins has added a career high 7 quarterback takedowns of his own, and has been unblockable at times while playing at an All-Pro level. The dominant inside/outside force of Rankins and Jordan has been well complimented by the rest of the Saints line. Ends Alex Okafor (3 sacks) and rookie Marcus Davenport (4 sacks) have both rushed the passer well, although Davenport has been a bit slow to return to form following a foot injury. The defense has also gotten excellent push from their defensive tackles in addition to Rankins, and has mixed in timely and effective blitzes from a linebacking unit that has combined for an additional six sacks. The Saints linebackers have been much improved and more athletic from recent seasons, and have been able to capably cover opposing backs and tight ends in zone or man coverage, a big team weakness in the past. Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty ImagesThe Buccaneers lead the NFL in passing yardage, averaging 345 yards per game. Their quarterbacks have thrown for 29 touchdown passes, fourth highest in the league, and they have perhaps the deepest receiving talent in the league. That's where the good news ends for Buccaneer fans. Quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston have combined to throw 23 interceptions P.J. Williams Jersey 2019 , the most in the league. Fitzpatrick began the season hot, replacing the suspended Winston, and threw for 417 yards and four touchdowns in the season opening win in New Orleans. After some shuffling between the two, the Bucs have turned back to Winston, the first overall pick in the 2015 draft. He has averaged over 300 yards in five starts, completing nearly 68% of his throws with 12 touchdown passes with 11 interceptions, while eclipsing 300 yards passing three times. Winston lost a talented target when tight end O.J. Howard was placed on injured reserve, but still has a dangerous arsenal in which he can deliver the football. Wide receiver Mike Evans leads the way with 66 receptions for 1,121 yards and five touchdowns, and may be headed towards another Pro Bowl berth. Deep threat DeSean Jackson has caught 40 passes for 750 yards and 4 scores, but is questionable for this game with a thumb injury, meaning that the underrated Chris Godwin will take a more prominent role. Godwin has 49 receptions for 676 yards and five scores, and joins productive slot receiver Adam Humphries (53-606, 5 td) to give opposing secondaries fits. The Buccaneers don't heavily involve their running backs in the passing game, but tight end Cameron Brate (23-221, 4 td) is a dangerous threat down the middle and near the goal line. Scott Clause-USA TODAY Sports~ Matchup to Watch: Saints CB's vs. Buccaneers WR's ~The Saints secondary, and cornerbacks in particular, played putrid football when these teams met in early September. Fitzpatrick threw for 417 yards on just 21 completions, and made the New Orleans defensive backs look helpless. Evans caught 7 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown, and Jackson added five catches for 146 yards and two scores, as Fitzpatrick repeatedly found them wide open down the field. When these teams met in the 2017 season finale New Orleans Saints Tommylee Lewis Jersey , Winston riddled the Saints secondary for 363 yards and a game winning touchdown in the final seconds. In that game, Godwin and Humphries ripped through the New Orleans backfield, combining for 14 receptions and 213 yards. A physical rivalry has developed Marshon Lattimore and Mike Evans. In their first meeting last year in New Orleans, Lattimore held Evans to only 1 catch, and greatly frustrated the Pro Bowl wideout. The second meeting between the two resulted in Evans catching five passes, but for only 55 yards. Evans exploded for 147 yards on seven catches in this year's opener though, many of those with Lattimore in coverage. Both players are extremely physical, and their one on one battles could be a major key to the game for each team. Even without the injured DeSean Jackson, the Buccaneers have a deep and talented corps of receivers, but the Saints have added Apple to their defensive backfield since these teams last met. Marcus Williams and Vonn Bell must take better angles and make better decisions than they did in the season opener to better support their cornerbacks, who will be tested early and often. SAINTS RUN DEFENSE VS. BUCCANEERS RUN OFFENSE Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsThe Saints hold the league's top ranked run defense, allowing only 3.5 yards per carry and 75 rushing yards per game. They have held 9 of 12 opponents under 100 yards rushing, and have held talented backs such as Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott, Cincinnati's Joe Mixon, Los Angeles' Todd Gurley, and New York's Saquon Barkley to their lowest outputs of the year. Defensive tackles Rankins, Tyeler Davison, and Taylor Stallworth have blown up plays from the start by dominating their interior match ups. Cam Jordan and Alex Okafor are two of the better edge run defenders in the league, and safety Vonn Bell has been outstanding in run support. The standout play of the defensive line has allowed the athletic Saints linebackers to run free to the ball carrier, resulting in a number of plays made in opposing backfields. Demario Davis leads the team with 87 tackles, as he along with Alex Anzalone and A.J. Klein have formed one of the better New Orleans linebacking units in quite some time. Photo by Brian Blanco/Getty ImagesThe Buccaneers have struggled to establish a consistent running game most of the year. They've averaged just 88 yards per game on the ground Womens Tommylee Lewis 2019 Jersey , have scored just 9 rushing touchdowns, and average only 3.9 yards per carry. Tampa Bay's 112 yards rushing against New Orleans in week onehas been the highest output any opponent has had against the Saints all year. The team's leading rusher is Peyton Barber, with 635 yards and 4 scores. The athletic Winston is the Bucs second leading rusher with 197 yards. He doesn't have many designed runs during the course of a game, but he will not hesitate to make plays with his legs if defensive containment breaks down. Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports~ Matchup to Watch: Saints defensive line vs. Buccaneers offensive line ~ Tampa's offensive line opened just enough room in the Saints defense for Barber to rush for 69 yards and maintain a balance during their first meeting. In addition, Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick went unsacked and rushed for 36 yards and a score. Cam Jordan has been dominant in fifteen games against Tampa Bay, totaling 56 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 2 recoveries. Jordan had at least a partial sack in four straight games and six of seven meetings against the Bucs before being shut out in the season opener. He will most likely be matched up against right tackle Demar Dotson the majority of the time, and could have another standout performance. David Onyemata exploded for 3 of the team's 7 sacks last week against Dallas, and the Saints have recorded 24 sacks over their last six games. For the New Orleans defense to be successful, this line must continue their disruption, snuffing out a low ranked Tampa rushing game and applying heavy pressure on Winston to force mistakes. WHAT TO LOOK FOR:Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsIt would be surprising if Tampa Bay was able to establish any kind of sustained running attack against the formidable New Orleans front seven. That means that the onus for success will fall onto Winston's arm and the talents of his receivers, a unit that has done well against the New Orleans secondary in the past. The Saints will need to pressure Winston heavily to win this match up. The Tampa Bay quarterback has been prone to turnovers throughout his career, and the Bucs 30 turnovers this season is the worst in the league. The weather may be a factor, with potentially heavy storms in the forecast for Sunday's game. Poor field conditions could definitely favor the Saints powerful defensive tackles, a group that has created havoc much of the year. The key battleground is likely in the secondary though, where New Orleans has been vulnerable at times. The team has caused 14 turnovers in it's last six games, after only 5 in their first six games. A secondary that many had high hopes for entering 2018 now has an opportunity to prove that they will not be a weak link in a potential championship push against one of the league's most prolific passing attacks.

Last Saturday night was the end for the 2018 Dallas Cowboys season thanks to a loss on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. It’s only been one week and we’re all already ready for the offseason to end.The Rams beat the Cowboys soundly Womens Mike White 2019 Jersey , nobody here will dispute that. What’s equally true though is that one of their players acted with about as low a level of class as you can throughout the game, Los Angeles cornerback Marcus Peters.Peters got into it with Amari Cooper during the Cowboys first offensive possession. He poked the bear and on the very next play Amari Cooper scored a touchdown. Funny how that works. Again, the Rams won the game and as the victors the spoils belong to them. After the game though Marcus Peters continued his lack of class with some harsh, and more importantly untrue, words about Cooper. Hopefully that whole display was worth it to Peters because his actions drew the eyes of the NFL and their all-snatching hand. He was fined $10,026 for his unnecessary roughness penalty. Considering players are only paid $29k for playoff games that means Peters had to fork over about a third of his game check. Ouch.Barring a trade like last season Peters will be on the Rams in 2019 when the Cowboys host Los Angeles. It sure will be interesting to see how he and Cooper handle each other during that game. If only that game would hurry up now! Dak Prescott won't know if he has a new No. 1 receiver with the Dallas Cowboys until the quarterback gets a chance to see how quickly Amari Cooper can be assimilated into the offense. At least one thing is certain. The Cowboys paid the price of a top pass-catcher by giving Oakland their first-round pick in next year's draft in a midseason trade designed to jump-start a passing game that has mostly struggled to replace Dez Bryant Cheap Mike White Youth Jersey , the franchise touchdown catch leader before being dumped in a cost-cutting move in April. And Prescott didn't need such a bold move to believe there's a win-now mentality with the Cowboys (3-4), who are off this weekend before returning for a Monday night game Nov. 5 at home against Tennessee."There's no doubt about it in my mind that they're all in," Prescott told The Associated Press, referring to owner and general manager Jerry Jones and the rest of the front office. "They know the team that we have. They know where we can go and they want to make sure they do everything to put us in that position."Two years ago, the Cowboys won the NFC East with a conference-leading 13 wins while Prescott won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.Dallas never really found a groove during disappointing encores for Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, in part because of a six-game suspension for the 2016 league rushing leader.Year 3 with the two offensive stars has been the model of inconsistency 鈥?four road losses Cheap Dorance Armstrong Youth Jersey , with three home wins alternating in between. And the root cause is a frequently punchless passing game that's been unable to punish defenses for focusing on Elliott. Spotty play from the offensive line hasn't helped, either. In Cooper, the Cowboys grabbed the fourth overall pick from three years ago, believing he was still young enough at 24 to be a cornerstone alongside Prescott and Elliott, the fourth overall choice a year later.Although his own Year 3 last season was a big letdown compared to the pair of Pro Bowl seasons that started his career, Cooper brings a solid pedigree to Dallas: 3 White Terrell Owens Jersey ,183 yards receiving and 19 touchdowns in 52 games. Prescott envisions something more than solid."He's an explosive guy that you don't have to draw too many crazy plays to get him the ball," Prescott said. "When you have a player like that, they'll be easy to put into this offense. We showed how good we can be. We've just got to continue to find a way to be consistent."Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and Cole Beasley, the top producer among the group of receivers Cooper is joining, both believe the open week will make a difference in getting the former Alabama standout ready for his new offense. While the Cowboys essentially had just two additional practice days with Cooper because of the break, they were important days because Dallas wasn't in game preparation mode."It's huge because he can kind of go back to the basics and then learn fundamentals of how we run our routes here and just little things that we do Terrell Owens Jersey 2019 ," Beasley said. "That will help him a lot."The other question is whether the presence of Cooper can help Elliott a lot. While the focal point of the Dallas offense is still second in the league in rushing with 619 yards, there have been a lot of tough yards for Elliott. Plus, he's coming off the second-worst game of his career: 33 yards on 15 carries in a 20-17 loss to Washington. While there were some bright spots for the NFL's 29th-ranked passing attack with the Redskins so focused on Elliott, including Prescott's season-high 273 yards, there were still plenty of problems for an offense averaging just 13.5 points on the road."I think it's going to help us as an offense," Linehan said. "You add firepower to your offense in proven-type guys like this Dallas Cowboys Mike Weber Jersey , gives you some options. And even if it's just the threat of the option, it might help the other part of your offense."Prescott and Cooper have been on opposing sidelines several times, mostly notably as juniors in college when Cooper and the Crimson Tide handed Mississippi State its first loss in 2014 when the Bulldogs were ranked No. 1 for the first time in school history.Last year, the Cowboys were hanging on to fading playoff hopes against the also-ran Raiders in a 20-17 Dallas victory in Week 15. Prescott had a mostly forgettable night and Cooper was out with an ankle injury. Now they're hoping to make memories together."I really like the way he throws the ball," Cooper said. "It's a good ball."And Prescott thinks the Cowboys made a good move.

It is amazing what happens when you don’t sabotage yourself. This is the cleanest half of football the Colts have put together all season. The offense is hitting on all cylinders and has stayed balanced. The defense created two turnovers. One was created by Mike Mitchell’s forced fumble Le'Raven Clark Jersey Stitched , recovered by Darius Leonard. Another turnover was created by an interception on a deep passing attempt by Derek Anderson that was returned deep into Bills territory — once again Mike Mitchell. One Hines run later, Indianapolis gets a late first half field goal and pushes the lead to 24 points.ESTABLISH THE GROUND GAMEThey have done this for much of the first half. They have 116 yards on the ground in the first half and are averaging 6.4 yards per carry. They utilized Marlon Mack heavily, who looked tremendous, but Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins have also played a role in the game. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of the ground game so far is that every type of run Youth Jordan Wilkins Jersey , inside and outside, and every running back is having success.PLAY AGGRESSIVELY IN THE SECONDARYThe Colts are still relying on soft coverage to keep plays in front of them. With an early first half lead, it is unlikely that they will become more aggressive. If the offense can keep things moving and the defense can continue to make the Bills one-dimensional, there is no reason to take risks or be overly aggressive. How refreshing to be in this situation going into the half.GENERATE CONSISTENT PRESSUREOther than a batted pass by Margus Hunt and a hit by Kemoko Turay Jordan Wilkins Jersey Stitched , the Colts haven’t had a great deal of success getting to Anderson. This is partially due to a quick strike offensive game plan that hasn’t required the Buffalo offensive line to block for extended periods but it would be nice to see the pass rush come to life in the second half. This defense is built on speed and the potential to make big plays. With a big lead the ends should be able to pull their ears back and Eberflus should be able to send some well timed and designed blitzes to make life difficult for Anderson.CATCH THE DAMN BALLI can’t recall a single drop in the first half and Luck utilized seven different receivers. This is an important development. If the receivers can continue to catch the ball moving forward this season, the offense might start to put up some big numbers.NO BACK BREAKING TURNOVERSNo fumbles and no interceptions for the Colts in the first half. In fact, the Colts caused a fumble and picked off Derek Anderson during a desperate two minute drive. The result? Two extra first half possessions. This has helped lead to a 24 point half time advantage.NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Injuries continue to hold back the Colts Week five was a tough week for the Colts. It was bad enough to lose a game to the New England Patriots on national television. It was compounded by a slew of injuries to key players that threatened to impact more than just that game. In three seasons in Kansas City, Murray appeared in 45 games, making 11 starts, and has one interception and seven passes defensed to show for it. He also has 88 career tackles and one sack. The trade came just hours after the Browns reported to team headquarters in Berea on Monday for the official start of their offseason workout program. But absent from the group was Ogbah, the team’s fourth-year defensive end, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:Ogbah had been at the center of numerous trade rumors since the end of the 2018 NFL season. Trade speculation continued to build ever since Dorsey made a trade with the New York Giants for defensive end Olivier Vernon Orange Bernie Kosar Jersey , who will take over Ogbah’s starting role opposite defensive end Myles Garrett.A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Ogbah made 40 starts for the Browns, although injuries cost him six games in 2017 and two games last season. He has contributed 12.5 sacks and 122 tackles. During his press conference on Monday, head coach Freddie Kitchens also confirmed that running back Duke Johnson was not at team headquarters. Like Ogbah, Johnson has been rumored to be the next veteran shipped out of town by Dorsey, which could explain Johnson’s absence.Earlier on Monday the news broke that the Browns are releasing safety Derrick Kindred and wide receiver Ricardo Louis, who were also part of the 2016 draft class. We talked to a lot of people and we felt comfortable with the information we had, listening to how remorseful he was, knowing that once he comes here there are no guarantees,” Dorsey said. “He’s going to have to earn respect in the Cleveland Browns organization by his actions not words.”The Kansas City Chiefs released their starting running back late last season after a video showed Hunt shoving and kicking a woman.Hunt signed a one-year deal with the Browns earlier this month but is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list and it’s not known when he’ll be allowed to play again. But after meeting with Hunt Orange Antonio Callaway Jersey , Dorsey figured he was worth the risk.“He has a good heart. The act he did last year was egregious, we all know that,” Dorsey said, acknowledging he found Hunt to be remorseful.

That’s not huge. That’s actually pretty not huge.Because it doesn’t address the wide array of possibilities that would create a similar outrage based on the same technicalities that existed two months ago.And I predicted as much two months ago:It was always going to be this stupid and this myopic. This is how the NFL operates. The state of officiating this sport for this league is a body with a hundred cuts and they put a band-aid on one of them.Good job. Good effort. Anderson gave the Rams everything and more in the short time he played in LA, but now he moves on to Detroit."According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Los Angeles Rams running back C.J. Anderson has signed a 1-year deal with the Detroit Lions. The amount of deal is not known, yet. Anderson seems to be excited about the signing. Anderson played a pivotal part in the Rams’ offense in the short time he played in LA, and will undoubtedly be a positive addition to a Detroit running game that finished in the bottom half of the league. The Lions’ leading rusher Kerryon Johnson rushed for just 641 yards last season. During the 2018 season, the Lions run-game racked up 1,660 yards which was 23rd-most in the league. They also had the 10th-fewest yards-per-game (103.8), seventh-lowest yards-per-carry (4.1) and eighth-fewest rushing touchdowns (11). The Rams signed Anderson on Dec. 19 and started him in the final two games of the regular season. Through those two games Brandon Allen Jersey , Anderson compiled 299 yards. He averaged around seven yards-per-carry in that span, scored two rushing touchdowns and recorded back-to-back games of more than 100 rushing yards. In the divisional playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Todd Gurley returned as the starter and Anderson played a complementary role. He still racked up 123 yards and two touchdowns on 23 touches. Anderson couldn’t have come at a better time for the Rams rushing offense. Their starting back was injured following a Week 14 game against the Eagles and their back-up in Malcolm Brown was out of the year. Injuries aside, the running-game as a whole struggled with consistency in the second half of the season. Between Week Eight and Week 15, the Rams didn’t record consecutive games of 100 or more rushing yards. Gurley himself saw fewer touches as time went on. Between Week Eight and Week 14, Gurley only accrued more than 16 touches once twice. Anderson had three consecutive games where he recorded more than 20 touches (Week 16, Week 17 and the division round of the playoffs). The signing also ends the will they, won’t they debate when it came to the Rams re-signing Anderson. The Rams already have three running backs (Gurley Ramik Wilson Color Rush Jersey , Malcolm Brown and John Kelly) signed through 2021, which seemingly made him the odd-man out. While the dividends of signing Anderson in December far-exceeded expectations, he was added to fill a need for healthy running backs. Brown was already out for the season and Gurley was going to miss time following the Week 14 game against the Eagles. It sucks to see Anderson leave the team. He added a new facet to the running game which made the offense better as a whole. Anderson made a tremendous impact on the team in a short amount of time. Too short, if you ask me.(UPDATED on 4/6/19, 2:13pm ET)We got the contract terms, and it’s not terribly different than the terms Brown was on originally or the deal he signed after being offered by the Lions:

The Denver Broncos proposed a possible rule change that could bring back excitement to the end of games."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Dallas Cowboys NewsDallas Cowboys GeneralThis proposed rule change could’ve cost the Cowboys their wild card victory over the SeahawksNew,80commentsAn alternative to the onside kick was suggested in this year’s rule change proposals.CDTShareTweetShareShareThis proposed rule change could’ve cost the Cowboys their wild card victory over the SeahawksTim Heitman-USA TODAY SportsOne of the most significant plays of the Cowboys 24-22 victory over the Seattle Seahawks came as time expired in the first half. Sebastian Janikowski attempted a 57-yard field goal with just three seconds left in the second quarter. He was wide-right, but more importantly - he came up limping after injuring his hamstring.Without Sea-bass available to kick, Seattle had to make adjustments. Long field goals were now out of the question as their All-Pro punter Michael Dickson wasn’t up to the task. In fact, the Seahawks opted to go for two rather than calling upon Dickson to kick the extra point. At first Chidobe Awuzie Jersey Stitched , this worked favorably for Seattle. Late in the third quarter facing a 4th-and-5 from the Cowboys 39-yard line, Seattle went for it. Russell Wilson hit Doug Baldwin for a 22-yard conversion near the sideline that set the Seahawks up inside the red zone. Five plays later, the Seahawks scored and took their first lead of the game. Seattle went for two and converted. When the Seahawks scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to make it a 24-20 game, they again went for two and converted, making it 24-22. The Seahawks could’ve then won the game with a field goal. But there lies the problem. Not only would kicking a long field goal be a challenge for the punter, but they first had to recover the onside kick. The result? One of the worst onside kicks we can remember seeing in recent history, but hey - we’re not complaining. While that was a poor attempt that left his team essentially no chance to recover the ball, the same thing can also be said about most of the onside kicks last season. Onside kicks are supposed to be advantageous for the winning team and that’s what they were before 2018. In 2017, there were 60 onside kicks attempts. 13 of them were recovered for a conversion rate of 22%. Last year, there were 53 onside kicks and only four were recovered (7.5%). With the new rule changes Youth Jourdan Lewis Jersey , it makes it nearly impossible to recover an onside kick. The NFL has altered how teams can line up to approach an onside kick to help prevent collisions. Teams can no longer overload one side of the field and players cannot get a running start. This was done to help reduce concussions during kickoffs, but the residual effect it is having on the outcome of games is significant. On Friday, the Denver Broncos proposed a rule change that could be a compromise to the onside kick ordeal.Basically, instead of an onside kick, the scoring team would be allowed to possess the ball at their own 35-yard line for a 4th-and-15 play. That’s still not a high percentage play, but it at least gives the trailing team a fighting chance. If this was the rule last year, Russell Wilson would’ve had a chance to win the game at the end of the fourth quarter. Seattle was already 2/2 on fourth-down conversions. That might have been disastrous for the Cowboys. What do you think of that proposed rule change? Something has to be done about the current rule as trailing teams have almost no chance to stage a comeback. This new rule by the Broncos seems pretty fair and could bring excitement back to the end of games.

The Indianapolis Colts again put their best foot forward and took care of the Dallas Cowboys 23-0 in Week 15. As they sit at 8-6 with only two games to play Indianapolis Colts Bobby Okereke Jersey , the Colts are very close to controlling their own fate as they have the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans left on their schedule. The Colts have the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens to deal with who are fighting it out for the AFC North and the No. 6 spot in the AFC playoff picture as well. Today we’ll talk about the Colts impressive win in Week 15 and the impending playoff situation that will follow over the final two weeks of the regular season.Additionally, the Pro Bowl rosters were announced as well Tuesday night. There were a couple Colts who were selected to represent the AFC, and were more than deserving, but there were also a couple Colts who were left off of the rosters and appear to be clear snubs. What Indy has accomplished this season is certainly worthy of considerable recognition and excitement but the team has to continue building toward a brighter future and one way to make that possible is to retain those “home grown” (current) players who can create a more solid foundation for the next season. While the Colts don’t have monster contracts to concern themselves with as they ponder how to approach the off-season, there are numerous pending free agents who can still play an important role in the team’s future. We will take a look at the list of priority free agents, those who might be on the bubble, and those who may be looking for a new home in 2019.PRIORITY FREE AGENTSK — Adam Vinatieri — Even through a groin injury this year Womens Bobby Okereke 2019 Jersey , Vinatieri remains a reliable kicker. He is hitting from outside of 50 yards with room to spare. If Vinatieri wants to keep playing, Irsay/Ballard will continue signing him to a new contract — and rightfully so.CB — Pierre Desir — Chris Ballard brought Pierre Desir back to Indianapolis on a one-year prove-it contract for just over $1.5 million. Desir responded by producing 79 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 8 passes defensed and an interception. He played a primary role in shutting down DeAndre Hopkins and Amari Cooper during Indy’s late-season push to the playoffs.G — Mark Glowinski — When Chris Ballard selected Braden Smith at the top of the second round in the 2018 NFL Draft, he likely was projecting him to fill the right guard spot. However, Smith looks like he can kick out to right tackle and have a bright future there. Ballard snagged Mark Glowsinski off of waivers from the Seattle Seahawks at the end of 2017, and saw him help the offensive line go on a historic sackless streak. Glowinski will be 27 years old in 2019.DT — Margus Hunt — There may not be a bigger underdog player on the Colts roster than Hunt. After he had a productive 2017 season, fans were calling for his job at final cuts in the new 4-3 defensive scheme in favor of veteran John Simon. Hunt has responded by tallying 30 tackles Indianapolis Colts Bobby Okereke Jersey , 5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, 2 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. He has been a dominant force for much of the season as a line penetrating defensive tackle. He can play at the nose, at 3-tech or slide out to defensive end depending on down, distance, or offensive front. S — Matthias Farley — Another highly underappreciated player in Indianapolis. Few teams can feel as confident as the Colts if they need a backup safety to come in and make a major impact in a game. Farley is a restricted free agent and will only be 27 years old in 2019. Bringing him back helps maintain depth in the secondary.LS — Luke Rhodes — There are three things to know about Rhodes. First, he snaps the ball a long way and hasn’t made a lot of mistakes. Second, he shouldn’t command a monster contract. Third, he does a nice job in coverage as a former linebacker and has made numerous special teams plays. BUBBLE FREE AGENTSS — Clayton Geathers — While Clayton Geathers has suffered through injuries over the past few seasons Cheap Bobby Okereke Youth Jersey , he has also played in a hybrid safety/linebacker role that no other player on the Colts roster can currently fill. Other moves in free agency could change that but fans might be surprised at his production this season. In 12 games, Geathers tallied 89 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 QB hits, 3 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.WR — Dontrelle Inman — Some thought that Inman had a chance to be a priority free agent before the 2018 season started. He had a history with Frank Reich during his time with the Chargers and seemed like a possible plug-and-play receiver in the system. While he ended up joining the team in the middle of the year, his 304 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, with a catch percentage north of 70%, turned out to be very valuable. WR — Chester Rogers — Early in his career, Rogers flashed tremendous potential. Unfortunately, he has never fully capitalized on his opportunities and spent too much time this season behind players like Zach Pascal. He is a restricted free agent who can double as a punt returner White Jordan Wilkins Jersey , though, so it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see him in training camp again.WR — Reece Fountain — It might seem unlikely that Ballard would give up on a small school receiving prospect so soon but Colts fans know he won’t hesitate to pull the trigger if better options are out there. Fountain has been unable to crack into any meaningful role on the team in 2018, despite a lack of talent at the receiver position. It doesn’t bode well for his future. He is an exclusive right free agent and that could get him a spot on the off-season roster.WR — Zach Pascal — There were times this season that Pascal was a liability, allowing passes to bounce off of his hands for easy interceptions that had a major role in Colts losses. He has settled down in the back half of the season and flashed a bit more of his potential. Is it enough to stay around? He is an exclusive rights free agent so he may find his way back to training camp.WR — Marcus Johnson — There are a whole lot of exclusive rights free agent wide receivers on the bubble. Chris Ballard was going to leave no stone unturned and gave a lot of youngsters a shot to show something. Johnson did show flashes early in the season before suffering a season-ending injury. Was it enough?TE/H Back — Ryan Hewitt — Hewitt serves his purpose and is a reasonably strong blocker. His role will always keep him on the roster bubble, however, as more talented options who play a bigger offensive role may come along.CB — Chris Milton — A liability on defense but one of the best special teams players on the team. If a better defensive corner or safety comes along, Milton is expendable. Otherwise, he is a nasty gunner on the punt team and a key contributor to numerous Colts punts pinned deep inside opponent territory.TE — Ross Travis — Frank Reich loves using tight ends in his passing game. Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron create a devastatingly talented tandem. Mo Alie-Cox is starting to look like a very promising, well-rounded option in his own right. Does the team have room for a receiving specialist at the position? Would he see snaps? Does he need to move to receiver? WE WISH YOU THE BESTDT — Al Woods — While Woods wasn’t quite as important to the 2018 Colts defense as he was to the 2017 version, he is still one of the most consistent nose tackles and run lane cloggers on the roster. What makes him a bubble player is that the Colts defensive scheme asks for gap shooters and penetrators and that isn’t his strong suit. At 32 years old Jordan Wilkins Jersey 2019 , it won’t be a surprise if Ballard lets him enter free agency.WR — Ryan Grant — Brought in to serve as a reliable possession receiver, Grant never really separated himself from other young options on the team. If there is one veteran receiver worthy of bringing back into the fold, Inman seems like he would get the nod over Grant.S — Mike Mitchell — Mitchell burst onto the scene with an impressive two-game run prior to suffering a calf injury. He is a solid and experienced veteran but if one of Farley or Geathers returns, it won’t be surprising to see Ballard look for a younger prospect.G — Matt Slauson — Slauson fulfilled the role the Colts needed in his short tenure. He solidified the right guard spot prior to suffering a fractured vertebrae and allowed younger players the chance to take over. He has received numerous compliments for his role as teacher on the sidelines but will likely not rejoin the team as a player.LB — Najee Goode — Once considered the front runner to start. Rarely saw the field. We wish you the best of luck.QB — Brad KaayaT — Jamarcus WebbC — Josh AndrewsS — Corey MooreS — Ronald MartinRB — Jonathan Williams

Desir, a former fourth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in 2014, worked his way around the NFL before signing with the Colts before the 2017 season. He spent two years in Cleveland before a year with the then-San Diego Chargers, and landed in Indy after a brief stint on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad.Desir started 12 games with the Colts last season, recorded 79 tackles — fifth-highest on the team — and was tied for the second-highest pass deflections (8). Looking further into the numbers, Desir allowed only two receptions of 30-plus yards all last year and didn’t allow more than three first downs in any single game. While this most likely won’t be the final signing for Indianapolis’ secondary Peyton Manning Jersey 2019 , bringing back Desir is a solid start to the offseason. No. 86: Quenton Nelson, Guard Top 101 appearances: New entryOne of the more impressive turnarounds in recent memory, the Colts offensive line went from complete liability to more than an adequate unit, and the play of Quenton Nelson had a lot to do with that. Nelson was a stud in pass protection White Johnny Unitas Jersey , leading the team in pass-blocking grade while allowing just 23 pressures on a whopping 730 pass-blocking snaps.Nelson was drafted as the Colts’ No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and took the league by storm immediately. He did a phenomenal job of leading the offensive line and protecting Luck throughout the season and was even named First-Team-All-Pro. He was also named Rookie of the Month in October. No. 76: Darius Leonard, LinebackerTop 101 appearances: New entryLeonard may have had impressive tackle totals, but he was also equally impressive as a blitzer, as a run stopper and as a coverage defender. Whichever way you slice it, Leonard ended a mightily productive regular season with 56 total defensive stops next to his name – the third-most among players at the position.Though he was snubbed by Pro Bowl voters, Darius Leonard has proved his NFL caliber. He was named First-Team-All-Pro alongside fellow rookie Nelson and was also recently awarded Defensive Rookie of the Year by NFL Honors, along with Defensive Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Writers of America. He was also named Defensive Rookie of the Month in September and AFC Defensive Player of the week for his performance in Weeks 2 and 17. No. 59: TY Hilton, Wide Receiver Top 101 appearances: 4Hilton dealt with injuries all season long, but even that couldn’t stop him from keeping up with the best of them. Hilton racked up 1270 receiving yards (10th- most) from 76 catches on the year, with 535 of those yards coming from deep passes (passes of 20 or more yards downfield). In a season littered with injuries, T.Y. Hilton still managed to make his mark on the NFL. He certainly proved his toughness and was spoken of highly by teammates. The Colts capitalized on the veteran’s ability all season to bounce back from hardship Johnny Unitas Jersey 2019 , especially when it came to big plays downfield. Though the Colts might look to add to the receiving corps in the upcoming draft, they can rest assured knowing they’ve got a resilient receiver in the backfield. No. 12: Andrew Luck, Quarterback Top 101 appearances: 3There once was legitimate questions about whether Andrew Luck would ever play football again, but Luck answered those questions firmly with a tumultuous comeback season. He finished the season ranked third among all quarterbacks in PFF grade at 91.2, while his 34 touchdown passes from a clean pocket were second to only Patrick Mahomes. What was once a huge question mark at the quarterback position is now solidified; Andrew Luck proved his ability to come back this season more than once. After a tough 1-5 start to the season, the quarterback led his team to a final record of 10-6 and two playoff games. Though the season ended earlier than expected, he capped his 2018 campaign as the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year. The Colts stunned the league this season with their perseverance and grit. This is only the beginning. The future is bright for this young team.
